Gray Whales Spotted Breaching Off Dana Point
DANA POINT (CBS) — Gray whales were spotted breaching in front of Dana Point Harbor, just in time for the city's annual Festival of Whales.
An employee of Dana Wharf Sportfishing & Whale Watching glimpsed the migrating mammals on their way to the waters of Baja California, on their annual 16,000 mile journey.
Since the whale watching season started in November, Dana Wharf Sportfishing says they have spotted 236 gray whales, 24 killer whales, 104 fin whales, 3 minke whales, 8 humpback whales and 8 blue whales.
The gray whales spotted Monday were just in time for this weekend's Dana Point Festival of Whales. Festival events include a parade and a 5K run.
