Oxnard Woman Sentenced To Prison In Hit-And-Run Death Of High School Senior

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A 23-year-old woman was sentenced to nearly three years in prison Tuesday for the hit-and-run death of a San Fernando Valley teenager.

Dominique Rush, of Oxnard, was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison, with credit for the 10 months she has already served.

Rush pleaded no contest to manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident in the April 2011 death of German Romero.

Romero, a 17-year-old senior at Chatsworth High School, was riding his bike on De Soto Avenue in Canoga Park when he was fatally struck by Rush's car.

Rush's father, 44-year-old Steven Rush, was sentenced to three years of probation, 10 days in jail and 30 days of community service for trying to cover up the crime.
