Vigil Held For Grandmother Killed By Gang Gunfire In Inglewood

INGLEWOOD (CBS) — The family and friends of a murder victim gathered for a prayer vigil Thursday night at Rogers Park.

Gwendolyn Jefferson Taylor died at the park in Inglewood while attending an event with her family. She was holding her grandchild when she was hit by a stray bullet from a gang-related shooting in the parking lot. The shooting occurred on Dec. 11 at 400 West Beach Avenue.

Authorities said a man was trying to shoot a 16-year-old boy in the Park's parking lot. The intended target dived out of the way. Instead, the gunshots hit a 15-year-old boy in the arm and fatally injured Taylor.

Police are still searching for the suspect and ask anyone with information to call them at (310) 412-5246.
