Police: Mom's Purse Stolen While Picking Up Student From Christian School In La Mirada

LA MIRADA (CBS) — Police on Tuesday asked for the public's help in finding a woman believed to have stolen a purse from a vehicle parked nearby a La Mirada school.

The car was parked outside the Heights Christian School campus at 12900 Bluefield Avenue about 1:30 p.m. Feb. 8 as the owner picked up her child, sheriff's deputies said.

When she returned a few minutes later, a window had been smashed, and her purse had been taken, deputies said.

One of the victim's credit cards was used at a nearby Chevron station before a woman attempted unsuccessfully to use the same card at a Target store in Santa Fe Springs, where her image was captured on security video.

The suspect was described as white, between 25 and 35 years of age and between 5'5" to 5'8", with light brown or dark blonde hair. She was wearing glasses, a pink tank-top, gray Capri pants and flip flops.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the theft was urged to call the sheriff's Norwalk Station at (562) 863-8711 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS or visit the Crime Stoppers website.
