LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A heartbroken father is speaking out about the tragedy that unfolded inside his South Los Angeles home.

KNX 1070’s Ed Mertz Reports

José Taque, whose wife is accused of drowning one of their daughters and trying to kill the other one, says she herself is a victim.

“… All the help that he tried to get for his wife but nobody helped him and now he is a victim in this situation as well as his children, his wife. They’re all victims because he tried to get help but nobody would help him,” Carlos Portillo, a family spokesman, said.

CBS2’s Kristine Lazar, reporting from outside Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Friday, said family members held up prescription pill bottles and hospital admission slips, trying to show that Taque’s wife – 32-year-old Lorna Valle – tried to get help for depression.

On Feb. 15, police say Valle drowned her 1-year-old daughter Lindsay in an infant-size bathtub.

Valle is also accused of attempting to drown her 5-year-old daughter, who is in critical condition at CHLA.

Taque says that over the last three months his wife has had multiple doctor visits in which he says he begged them to do more.

Valle has been charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

She is being held on $1.5 million bail.

Of course it’s not the woman’s fault. It’s someone else’s fault. Typical lack of accountability. You can do anything and it’s not your, but someone else’s fault. I guess she should get a walk, NOT.

why why why if he knew his wife was crazy why did they have babies? And if they would have came to this country the right way maybe this wouldn’t of happened….

      1. Christina39 says:

        have happened

  2. Linda says:

The husband should have put the children with family or friends until his wife was more stableized, the children should never have been left in her care.

  3. Christina39 says:

And still Ronald Reagan is a hero, when actually he was probably always crazy. He worked tirelessly to make it impossible for people to get hellp for their mentally ill relatives.

  4. Christina39 says:

You are correct Growapair and we would have a lot of schizophrenics getting a bed instead of the sidewalk and many parents looking for beds for their mentally ill children would get one and we can thank Ronald Reagan that people have to restructure their entires lives and go broke because of that idiot Ronald Reasgan. Grow up GrowAPair and look around you at the what that dimwit did to the mental health care in this country. As far as marking your comments for deletion, I didn’t know I had such powers, Maybe you need help.

you must be a liberal. Raegan was one of the best presidents this country has ever seen!

      1. Christina39 says:

His name is Reagan, but we can thank the plight of many sick people on him. Wasn’t he crazy or something?

    2. Vanna45 says:

He demonstrated strength, character, conviction, decisiveness, a sense of humor, and compassion. He was strong in his Christian faith and he had an enormous faith in God ( the God of the Bible) , He was strong on defense and built up our military, unlike the current occupant, who’s in the White House now; who has done nothing but dessimate it by reinstating Don’t ask Don’t tell, slashing the numbers, and allowing women to perhaps be in the front lines. Reagan was a man of principle and of his word.. under his leadership, the world witnessed the triumphent demise of communism in Germany with the tearing down of the Berlin Wall in 1989. He elliminated useless programs of special interest groups draining our society and this is one of the reason Liberals despise him. He actually forced people to be responsible and acccountable for their own lives and get off the governments nipple.
