Senate GOP Leader Floats Vikings Special Stadium Session

ST. PAUL, Minn. (CBS/AP) -- The top Senate Republican is floating the idea of holding a special legislative session on the proposed Vikings stadium.

Senate Majority Leader David Senjem said at a Friday press conference that lawmakers should not have to wait around for a proposal toward the end of the regular session on April 30. He says he would be open to the idea of a special stadium session if Gov. Mark Dayton called legislators back once a bill was ready.

House Speaker Kurt Zellers says the issue is still speculative. He would not say if he supports a special session.

Senate Minority Leader Tom Bakk is not supportive of a special session. Bakk says he would be surprised if Dayton called legislators back to debate the issue during a time of heavy campaigning.

Los Angeles is a destination where the Vikings may land if they stadium plans don't pan out in Minnesota.
