Catholic League President Blasts Nicki Minaj, Recording Academy

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Is Nicki Minaj possessed?

That's the question posed by the Catholic League, which is denouncing the rapper's choice of fashion and performance theme at the Grammy Awards Sunday night.

On the red carpet, Minaj walked the red carpet in a satiny red hooded cloak, embroidered with black beads along the edges, arm in arm with an unidentified, older white man dressed like the pope, complete with headdress and flowing gold cloak.

The red carpet was just a hint of things to come.

Minaj performed her new single "Roman Holiday," with scenes of a confessional and an exorcism – complete with Minaj floating horizontally – amid dancing choir boys and monks.

"Perhaps the most vulgar part was the sexual statement that showed a scantily clad female dancer stretching backwards while an altar boy knelt between her legs in prayer," Catholic League president Bill Donohue said in a news release.

Donohue also blasted the Recording Academy, saying they would never allow an artist to insult Judaism or Islam.
