2 Teenage Boys Arrested In 2010 Killing In Santa Ana

SANTA ANA (CBS) — A pair of teenage boys have been arrested in connection with the 2010 killing of an Irvine man in downtown Santa Ana.

The boys, who are 16 and 17 years old now, were 14 and 15 years old at the time of the shooting. Their names were not released because they are minors.

They are accused of shooting and killing 23-year-old Jeffrey Lee Chung on Oct. 2, 2010, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

"A community member came forward saying, 'Rumor on the street is these street gangsters are doing street robberies and they may be responsible for killing that Korean kid on Broadway,'" Bertagna said.

Police showed a photo lineup to Chung's friend, who was with him at the time of the shooting. The friend identified the boys, who were documented gang members, as the killers, Bertagna said.

Chung was at a bar that evening with friends in downtown Santa Ana, when the boys shot him for his smart phone, he said.
