Out of The Box Event Spaces: Spotlight on Royal/T

From galleries to rooftops, Los Angeles is filled with hidden gems and unexpected places to hold your next special event. Why not break 'out of the box' and consider something new whether it is for a party, fundraiser, workshop or wedding!

Royal/T: a playful blending of café, concept shop, and art exhibition space.

From the café, where the waitresses dress in playful maid uniforms and serve guests a menu of French & Japanese-inspired cuisine, to the art space showcasing exhibitions with a focus on Japanese contemporary art, to the inventive concept store, Royal/T is the perfect venue for the creative and the eclectic.

Opened in 2008, this 10,000 square foot space is the inspiration of owner Susan Hancock's lifelong passion and desires to share her love of art and the meido kissa (maid café) phenomena of Akihabara, Tokyo's electronic district. Together with architects Why Architect and New York-based consultants, Goto Design, she created a space that is a unique blend of inspiring and inviting with a dusting of magic.

The space can accommodate up to 300 guests. There are several spaces including an exclusive glass-ensconced VIP room for intimate meetings or a private lunch, the café for a sit-down dinner for up to 50 diners, industry gatherings or cocktail parties in the expansive front room featuring the current art exhibits and retail store, or the large private back space with ample room for live entertainment and DJs. Royal/T is able to enhance every event with an advanced built-in acoustic system and video capabilities. The option is also available for buy-outs of the entire venue.

Gwen Stefani hosted a Harajuku-themed charity tea party during June 2011 to benefit the Save the Children's Japan Earthquake Emergency Fund. Recently, Tobey Maguire and family enjoyed a family-friendly afternoon at Royal/T in January 2012 as they enjoyed the opening reception of TAG you're it! I speak from personal experience that this unique space is ideal as a creative backdrop to your special event. My husband and I were married there in May 2010 and hold the special honor as their first wedding. Our guests continue to rave about it.
