3 Children Hurt - 1 Seriously - In Oxnard Hit-And-Run

VENTURA (CBS) — Three children were struck -- and one seriously hurt -- in a hit-and-run accident Saturday night  in Oxnard.

The children, all female, are two sisters -- 6 and 8 -- and a 10-year-old friend.

A vehicle reportedly ran up on the curb on Santa Monica Avenue, near Victoria, striking the girls who were walking on a bike path with Joan Aronson, 50, the mother of the two sisters.

The accident was reported just after 7:14 p.m.

The 6-year-old is reportedly in serious condition. The 8 and 10-year-old had moderate injuries.

The suspect vehicle was described as a silver or gray older model possibly a Honda or Toyota with tinted windows.

It is unknown if the car had any passengers.

Officials say there should be damage to the left front fender, headlight and bumper. The car is missing a hubcap.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the vehicle. Anyone who witnessed the crash or who might have seen this vehicle is asked to call police at 805-477-4100 and ask for Det. Untalan or any investigator.
