LANCASTER (CBS) — A man who came at sheriff’s deputies with a four-foot sword was fatally shot, authorities said Thursday.

Deputies were serving a narcotics search warrant on a home in the 44000 block of Spearman Avenue in Lancaster about 9 p.m. Wednesday.

When deputies entered the home, a 68-year-old man suddenly exited a bedroom armed with the sword and raised it toward a deputy, sheriff’s Lt. John Corina said. The suspect was shot several times.

The man, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to a hospital, where he was found dead.

Corina is heading up the internal investigation into the shooting. The deputy-involved shooting is also being investigated by the Department’s Internal Affairs bureau, the L.A. County District Attorney’s office and the county’s Office of Independent Review.

Hey CBS, do you need an editor? These types of mistakes are appearing daily and should be very embarrassing to you.

So, let me get this straight. they took him to the hospital and they found him dead. Were they playing hide and seek?

It was cold blooded murder, his name was Don Handy and he was unarmed. They broke his door down and yelled get the f_ _k on the floor, when he turned around they shot him 7 times. They found no narcotics in the home, they executed an old man who was non violent and not a threat to anyone. There is more to fear from the cops than the criminals in the Antelope Valley.
