Public's Help Needed To Identify Man Suspected Of Stealing Off-Duty Officer's Gun

FULLERTON (CBS) — Police need the public's help in identifying a man they believe stole an off-duty officer's gun from a gym locker in Santa Ana and used his credit cards at a Fullerton store.

The off-duty officer was working out at a gym in Santa Ana when his locker was broken into and his wallet and 9mm Glock handgun was stolen, Fullerton police spokesman Sgt. Andrew Goodrich said. The officer is not a member of the Fullerton Police Department.

Goodrich did not know which gym the officer was at, or whether the gun stolen was department-issued.

The suspect later used the victim's credit cards to go shopping at a Target store on Malvern in Fullerton.

The suspect is described as a black male with a very light complexion, about 6 foot 4 to 6 foot 7 and weighing about 300 pounds. He wore a cabby-style hat and a plaid shirt.

Anyone with information about the suspect or the break-in can call Detective Robert Barnes at (714) 738-6785.
