Elderly Woman Crashes Cadillac Into Donut Shop Patio, Block Wall

ORANGE (CBS) — An elderly woman crashed her Cadillac into the patio of DK's Donuts in the city of Orange Monday morning.

Police said that the crash appears to have been an accident.

"Big noise! Oh my God, I screaming, I was screaming, I was so scared," said donut shop owner Lauren Vaun.

Police said a 91-year-old Orange resident put her black Cadillac into reverse, her foot on the gas and crashed through a wrought iron fence into the patio of the donut shop.

"Oh my God and I go I though she killed herself," Vaun said.

But the senior citizens wild ride took another crazy turn as she sped off through the Chapman Center parking lot and plowed through Ray Garcia's concrete-block wall.

"I thought it was a big tornado or something. It rocked my house and one of those big old rocks almost hit the sliding window. I jumped up and I came out and I noticed that the car came through the wall," Garcia said.

No one was seriously injured in the incident; although, the driver, as well as three donut shop customers, were taken away in ambulances.

The driver's son said that she recently passed her driving test and has not had a ticket for 70 years.

"We were running out and she was in the car, but she had her foot on the accelerator still, trying to go through I don't know. She was so upset the little old lady," said Linda Garcia.
