Pomona's Andrews Takes Home Doubles Title At Aussie Junior Open

(CBS) --15-year-old Gabrielle Andrews of Pomona teamed up with fellow 15-year-old Taylor Townsend to take home the Australian Open junior girls' title on Friday.

Townsend of Stockbridge, GA. and Andrews have known each others for over seven years, meeting at tennis camp in Carson.

"They used to bring us out into the Home Depot Center and they have the eight high-performance camps and so they brought people from all over," Townsend told the New York Times.  "We just decided to play doubles.  Easter Bowl was the first time when we were 14."

Their teamwork showed off, as the duo stunned Irina Khromacheva of Russia and Danka Kovinic of Montenegro, 5-7, 7-5, 10-6.
