Desert Home Of Late President Ford Available For $1.6M

RANCHO MIRAGE (CBS) — The desert home of the late President Gerald Ford and First Lady Betty Ford has been put up for sale.

The 5-bedroom home built by architect Welton Beckett in the mid-1970s sits on the 13th fairway of the storied Thunderbird Country Club in Rancho Mirage.

The listing says the single family home on 1.37 acres features 6,316 square feet, 5 full bathrooms, two half baths and a lap pool that the president is said to have swam in every day. The home also has a sitting room for staff.

The Fords moved into the home in 1979 and lived there until President Ford's death in 2006 and Mrs. Ford's death last year.

The home is listed for $1.6 million.
