Ontario Police Track Suspect With GPS After Phone Stolen In Subway Store Robbery

ONTARIO (CBS) — An Ontario man who allegedly robbed a sandwich shop and took off with an employee's cell phone was in police custody on Wednesday.

Police responded to a call shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening after a Subway store located at 1118 West Mission Boulevard was robbed. An employee at the store reported that the suspect had also robbed his cell phone.

Police tracked the GPS-enabled phone to an apartment complex near Sultana and Acacia where they found a Mercedes matching a description for the getaway car.

Dozens of squad cars and an armored vehicle were called out to scene after police began to evacuate nearby homes.

Three people eventually emerged from the residence and one suspect was taken into police custody.
