'CSI' Star Gary Sinise Discusses Wounded Veteran Fundraiser With Temecula City Council

TEMECULA (CBS) — Actor Gary Sinise drew a large crowd of star-struck onlookers when he attended the Temecula City Council meeting Tuesday night, seeking the city's approval of a benefit concert to help a wounded veteran.

The actor, who played a soldier who lost his limbs in the movie "Forrest Gump," has supported veteran causes since the early 1980s. Several members of his family belong to the military and he heads The Gary Sinise Foundation, which builds home for wounded veterans.

The "CSI New York" star wants to raise funds to help build a home for Marine Lance Cpl. Juan Dominguez, who lost his legs and right arm while serving in Afghanistan. He has planned for his rock group, the Lt. Dan Band, to play at a benefit concert, but first needs city council approval.

Sinise said in a statement that the concert will, "recognize the heroism, sacrifice and dedication Juan has displayed."

The benefit, if approved by city council, will take place on March 1 at Town Square Plaza.
