Several members of the Guardian Angels handed safety information and spoke with homeless people at the Orangewood Avenue underpass of the Orange (57) Freeway.

The non-law enforcement volunteer group said it will begin to patrol the Santa Ana River Trail in Anaheim indefinitely, just miles from where one of three homeless men was fatally stabbed in recent weeks.

"We want these fliers up to be reminders that they have to be aware of what's going on in the street," spokesman Dave Eagle of the Inland Empire Guardian Angels said.

"A lot of 'em, they put their guard down, they forget, and then they become victims, and we don't want that to happen."

The group will conduct nightly patrols "until the Orange County serial killer is caught," Eagle said.
