Police Shoot And Kill Domestic Violence Suspect In El Sereno Area
LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Los Angeles police shot and killed a man early Saturday in the El Sereno area.
The fatal officer-involved shooting occurred about 12:45 a.m. in the 4800 block of Axtell Street, according to Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department.
"Officers were responding to a radio call of an assault with a deadly weapon," Eisenman said. "When they arrived the suspect, a male Hispanic 30 to 35 years old, confronted them and an officer-involved shooting occurred."
Eisenman said the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. A gun was recovered.
No officers were injured in the shooting, Eisenman said.
Reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, Ed Lawrence said police originally were responding to a domestic violence call.
A neighbor told Lawrence that the suspect had a restraining order against him and was not allowed to be in the area.
