LOS ANGELES (CBS) —  Los Angeles police shot and killed a man early Saturday in the El Sereno area.

The fatal officer-involved shooting occurred about 12:45 a.m. in the 4800 block of Axtell Street, according to Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department.

“Officers were responding to a radio call of an assault with a deadly weapon,” Eisenman said. “When they arrived the suspect, a male Hispanic 30 to 35 years old, confronted them and an officer-involved shooting occurred.”

Eisenman said the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. A gun was recovered.

No officers were injured in the shooting, Eisenman said.

Reporting for CBS2 and KCAL9, Ed Lawrence said police originally were responding to a domestic violence call.

A neighbor told Lawrence that the suspect had a restraining order against him and was not allowed to be in the area.

Excellent job officer. We are gonna salute you with the greatest honor we ever had. One by one, a little bit count perhaps a million more to go. Shoot to kill is way to go with them. And I hate myself not at the scene seeing this happen with my eyes. Lord I missed the best show. Get it on officers, take them down to make it no turning back. You make hero of America!!

A bunch of kids were at the scene. I’m sure they’ll never forget it. If the officers didn’t shoot him, he was going to eventually kill his wife, maybe his kids, and probably himself. I know he probably wanted to shoot some officers before they killed him. It’s a miracle that everyone else at the scene besides this man is still alive.

That’s the point. Thank you very much American officers.

  4. R.I.P. says:

He was an ordinary person who lost control of his drinking and started beating up his wife. They were an attractive, popular couple with kids who inherited their good looks. The family was picture perfect. What happened was tragic. But everyone knows that the police were just doing their job…

  5. R.I.P. says:

He was a Mexican from Jalisco. He was about 35 years old. He had a gun. He wanted to die instead of going to jail. I don’t think he realized that he probably would’ve been out on parole or bail.

i don’t think that always the idiots polices are making their job. is another ways how to arrest people the problem here is that all the police officers are killers.and one police is injured they are like dogs looking for the suspect.so never is a good idea call to these idiots killers better face any problem without the killers.but one day they will face justice in front of the Lord He is the only justice police or not police because all has tail that can be step on it.so is better keep away of this devils.

Betty…..(sigh). Please learn to write at least at the level of a 1st grader so we can decipher your ignorant statements. I think your post was a desperate attempt to make the police look bad but your grammar was so poor it is YOU that ended up looking incredibly dumb. I assume your occupation is a maid or street vendor.

      1. The Translator says:

Let me try to translate Betty’s comment: I don’t think the idiotic police are always “just doing their job.” There are many ways to arrest people; the problem here is that all police officers are killers. When one police is injured, they are like dogs looking for the suspect. So, it’s never a good idea to call these idiot-killers. It’s better to face any problem without the killers. But one day, they will face justice in front of the Lord. He is the only Justice because everyone has a tail that can be stepped on, -whether or not they are police. So it is better to stay away from these devils.

The first time the man beat up his wife real bad, her family was very upset. But they left him alone. They figured if he didn’t change his ways, he was going to self-destruct on his own. Never in their wildest dreams, did they imagine that the LAPD would be the ones to kill him. But this was his destiny!

The man’s father is completely furious with the police. Like you, he’ll never see my side of the situation. But if you would have seen the condition this man left his wife in, after beating her up, you would’ve dialed 911 too!

If the husband left his wife all bruised up before acquiring his firearm, I think I would’ve called the police once he started acting violently with the addition of the firearm in his possession. Whoever called the police, did the right thing.

What method would you have used to arrest him? Taser? Tear gas? K-9? Robot? Negotiating with his limited sense of reasoning?

  9. J. Rubensten says:

That’s a nice and sophisticated sympathy you showed for this hispanic criminal man. But I am 200% sure you guys would have raced to drop hatred comments here if it were a, say black, white, or other races that had committed a life threatening crime. What’s sad about this is people do honestly lie to themselves for self comforting and believe themselves after it. And I have seen it TOO MANY times in CBS page and other 100s of news sites.

Overall, I agree with some comments above; the police did a great job. The whole community do feel more safer to see fewer of “them”.
