Hollywood's 'Guardian Angels' Plan Extra Patrols Amid Fires

HOLLYWOOD (KNX 1079) — The Hollywood Chapter of the Guardian Angels is offering its volunteers in the hunt to find a suspected serial arsonist believed to be responsible for setting dozens of fires in the area.

KNX 1070's Bob Brill reports that the Angels have had a presence in Hollywood for years and routinely patrol the area hoping to deter criminals from practicing their craft.

Founder Curtis Sliwa tells KNX 1070 that the Angels will be visible during daylight and overnight hours as they hope to inform the public of what to do should they witness suspicious activity.

"Having a physical presence and patrolling at night when the [arson] attacks are taking place, we would just be exercising our right to deter the suspect until the police arrive," Sliwa said.

The Angels also plan to pass out leaflets with safety tips to residents in the area.
