Single Dad Reunited With Stolen Therapy Dog That Helps His Epileptic Baby Daughter

SAN DIEGO (CBS) — Last week we told you about the story of a single dad who was desperate for the return of his dog, Bella.

Brian Margarita, from Point Loma, said his Doberman Pinscher was more than just a family pet — she's a certified therapy dog for his 9-month-old daughter Reese, who has epilepsy.

Bella sleeps next to Reese's crib and starts barking whenever the baby has a seizure — a job that Margarita said he relies on every night to help him care for his little girl.

After creating a facebook awareness page, and offering a $2,000 reward for Bella's return, police got a tip.

San Diego Sheriff's Deputies say that Margarita's bitter ex-girlfriend had the canine dognapped -- out of spite.

Bella was found at the Lakeview home of one of his ex-girlfriend's friends.

Margarita says Bella is tired and a bit confused but settling back into her routine.

On his facebook wall, Margarita thanked Mark Zuckerberg for creating the social networking site. "Without this unreal ability to communicate with the community at such a rapid page [getting Bella back] would never have happened."

He added, "This is the greatest Christmas gift and answered prayer."
