Buena Park Man Accused Of Beating Friend To Death After Rebuffing His Sexual Advances

SANTA ANA (CBS) — A Buena Park man is being held for the beating death of a friend he reportedly killed after rebuffing the man's sexual advances, according to the Orange County Register.

The newspaper reports that 22-year-old Edgar Salvador Luciozamudio murdered Ricardo Rios, 47, in a Buena Park garage last week.

Luciozamudio, charged with one felony count of murder, is being held on $1 million bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

If convicted, he faces a sentence of 25 years to life.

Prosecutors told the Register that Luciozamudio was visiting Rios in a detached garage where he lived. Sometime after 3:30 a.m. on December 14, authorities say Rios initiated a sex act and the two men got into a fight.

Rios allegedly threw a cement block at the suspect's vehicle and he retaliated by punching the deceased repeatedly.

Luciozamudio broke Rios' nose, jaw, orbital bone and several ribs before fleeing the scene, according to prosecutors.

The D.A. also said Luciozamudio called 911 to report that his friend might need medical assistance. By the time police and paramedics arrived, Rios succumbed to his injuries.
