Search Underway For Suspect In Triple Stabbing In Murrieta

MURRIETA (CBS) — A search was underway Tuesday for a suspect who stabbed three people -- one fatally -- at their home in Murrieta.

William Gary Simpson, 19, is wanted in connection with the 4 a.m. attack at 40025 Milkwood Lane, according to Murrieta police.

The suspect, who is 6-foot-3 and around 120 pounds, was last seen fleeing the area on foot. According to police, Simpson was spotted by officers on Milkwood, running west on Lincoln Avenue, near Symphony Park Lane.

Witnesses said he was one of several foster children who had been raised by a family residing at the location.

Authorities said neighbors interrupted the frenzied knife assault when they rushed into the house in response to a woman's screams for help.

A woman and two men were stabbed multiple times. The female victim, whose identity was not released, died at the scene, according to police.

The unidentified men underwent emergency surgery at a hospital.

Anyone with information was urged to call Murrieta police at (951) 696-3615.
