2 Armed Robbers Attack Sherman Oaks Homeowner

SHERMAN OAKS (CBS) — A Sherman Oaks homeowner was tied up and pistol-whipped during a violent home-invasion robbery Monday night.

Authorities say two armed robbers who posed as delivery men broke into the home in the 4900 block of Matillja Avenue around 8:30 p.m.

When the homeowner, a 67-year-old dentist, opened the front door, the men rushed inside, zip tied his hands, hit him on the head with a gun, and then ransacked the home. The pair left with cash and jewelry, KNX 1070's Pete Demetriou reports.

The homeowner's wife ran into a bathroom, locked herself inside and called police, authorities said.

The elderly man is expected to be fine. His disabled wife was not injured.

Neighbors say they saw the men approach other homes in the neighborhood, but no additional incidents were reported.

Police hope to release a composite drawing of the suspects Tuesday afternoon.
