Pasadena Schools To Remain Closed Friday Due To Wind

PASADENA (CBS) — Schools in the Pasadena Unified School District will remain closed Friday, Dec. 2, officials announced Thursday.

Schools in the district were closed Thursday due to a severe wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service.

The district operates Arroyo Vista Elementary, Marengo Elementary, Monterey Hills Elementary, South Pasadena Middle School and South Pasadena High School.

In addition to the school closures, "All afterschool programs, home athletic events, and scheduled meetings are also cancelled," PUSD said in a statement.

Several schools in PUSD reported broken windows, sprinklers, and downed trees, however buildings have been deemed safe for occupancy.

Monthly district employees are still required to report to work Friday if it is safe to do so, the district said.

Schools are scheduled to reopen Monday, Dec. 5 to students.
