Who Needs to Pimp My Ride, When You're Already Driving This?

One last car note, for now. One of the most outrageous concept cars ever to roll into the L.A. Auto Show this year was the Cadillac Ciel . "Ciel" means Heaven, or sky, in French. This long and luxurious showboat is open to the "ciel," to squire 4 passengers in butter-soft leather comfort around town.

A 4-door convertible with a steeply raked windshield, the Ciel boasts a broad front grill, framed by vertically cascading LED headlamps. A short overhang at the front end leads to massive wheels that give the Ciel a more sporty look, but probably would never make it onto any production version.

The 4 doors feature electronically operated openers, that do away with handles. On the back deck, the vertical-light theme continues with the tail lights, that are instantly recognizable as 'Cadillac.' the oversized chrome tipped exhaust pipes appear underneath the lights, like pillars, holding them up!

In the open - air cabin, the instrument panel layout is a mix of streamlined new tech, with chrome-plated 'old school.' Highly polished wood accents frame everything... and there's even a widescreen video screen for front seat passengers who want something to watch, when they're tired of being stared at.

The Ciel is not slated for production, but certainly styling cues from this car will be showing up on more down-to-earth- Caddies over the next several years.
