Arson Suspected In Murrieta Playground Fire

MURRIETA (CBS) —  A Murrieta kindergarten's playground equipment was burned and authorities suspect arson, a county fire department spokesman said Sunday.

The blaze was reported at about 1:45 p.m. Saturday at Alamos Elementary School, 38200 Pacific Park Drive, in Murrieta, according to fire Capt. Tim Buckley.

The playground slide and its support pole were burned and other equipment was also severely damaged, he said. The loss was estimated at about $3,000.

"It appears someone was playing with fire on the playground," Buckley said.

It took firefighters just a few minutes to knock down the flames,

Buckley said. The fire was being investigated, he said.
