8 Arrested At Norco DUI Checkpoint

NORCO (CBS) — A DUI/driver's license safety checkpoint in Norco resulted with eight drivers arrested and the 15 vehicles impounded, a sheriff's sergeant said Saturday.

The checkpoint on Hamner Avenue at Commerce Street in Norco was in place from 8 p.m. Friday and to 2 a.m. Saturday, said sheriff's Sgt. Ken Violette.

A total of 470 vehicles entered the checkpoint of which 389 were screened and 35 were given sobriety tests, resulting in eight drivers being arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, Violette said.

Forty six drivers were issued citations and 15 vehicles were towed, 10 of which were 30-day impounds, he said.

The operation was funded by a grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Safety Administration.
