Man Shot After Allegedly Accelerating Car Toward Officers In Oxnard

OXNARD (CBS) — Authorities were investigating the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting in Oxnard.

The confrontation occurred just before 10 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Redwood Street when officers attempted to make a traffic stop of a vehicle believed to be stolen.

According to police, the driver initially stopped the vehicle, but moments later, suddenly accelerated it toward officers.

The suspect was then shot.

He was taken to Ventura County Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

No one else was injured.
