OXNARD (CBS) — Authorities were investigating the circumstances surrounding an officer-involved shooting in Oxnard.

The confrontation occurred just before 10 p.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Redwood Street when officers attempted to make a traffic stop of a vehicle believed to be stolen.

According to police, the driver initially stopped the vehicle, but moments later, suddenly accelerated it toward officers.

The suspect was then shot.

He was taken to Ventura County Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.

No one else was injured.

      The only thing missing is the name of the suspect, and it is entirely possible that the information isn’t available yet — the guy is in critical condition and his ID (if he has one) could be fake.

      It is better to post the article as it is so that people affected by this incident have some clue as to what is going on rather than waiting until every last detail becomes available.
