Police Respond To Gunshot Reports At Church Funeral Service
RANCHO DOMINGUEZ (CBS) — Chaos erupted at a packed funeral service Saturday when Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of shots fired inside the church.
Several people inside New Philadelphia A.M.E. Church called police to report men with guns in their waistbands and that shots had been fired.
A woman was injured after mourners reportedly trampled over her to get out of the building, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies.
Several people in attendance said the funeral was being held for a gang member and some mourners were afraid those armed might have belonged to a rival gang.
Authorities did not find a gunmen inside or near the church.
No arrests have been made.
