Tires Flattened On Squad Cars Outside LAPD Station In Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Police on Friday sought the person who flattened tires on several LAPD patrol cars and other vehicles around downtown Los Angeles.

The vandalism apparently happened between midnight and 2 a.m. along Broadway and Spring Street, between Sixth and Eighth streets, Lt. Paul Vernon of the LAPD's Central Station said.

An unidentified number of vehicles were vandalized in addition to six police cars parked in front of the Central Station.

"The best description of the suspect is black, wearing a large gray hoodie sweatshirt and black pants, with another sweatshirt tied around the waist," Vernon said. "While the suspect was described as a woman, it could also be a man."

Vernon said detectives do not believe the vandalism was connected with the Occupy L.A. movement.

The police cars were vandalized in front of the Central Station at 251 E. Sixth St., Vernon said. Anyone who may have had tires vandalized, or who has more information on the case, was urged to call LAPD Central Station detectives at (213) 972-1242.
