Man, 42, Accused Of Peeping Through Bedroom Windows And Touching Teen Girl

SANTA ANA (CBS) — A 42-year-old man was behind bars Friday as a suspect in two peeping Tom cases as well as another incident where he reached through a window to touch a sleeping teen.

Leonel Santana Cervantes is being held without bail, according to Orange County jail records.

About 4 a.m., Thursday, a woman in the 1000 block of Minnie Street in Santa Ana called police when she noticed a man looking through her window, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

"She got home from work around 3:30 a.m. and was changing clothes in her bedroom with the lights on. When she turned the lights off she saw the suspect looking inside her bedroom," Bertagna said.

Police arrested Cervantes around the corner from the woman's apartment allegedly hiding behind a large trash bin, Bertagna said.

Investigators suspect he did the same thing in July at another woman's home, and was also the man he reached through a bedroom window in August to touch the leg of a teenage girl, Bertagna said.

"In the interview (with police) he made incriminating statements so we arrested him for all three incidents," Bertagna said. "We believe he may be involved in others."

Cervantes was booked on suspicion of burglary, peeping and lewd act on a child, Bertagna said.
