Man, 2 Teens Shot Outside Mar Vista Liquor Store In Apparent Case Of Mistaken Identity

MAR VISTA (CBS) — Police were investigating a shooting that left a man and two teens wounded.

Gunfire rang out outside a liquor store at or near Culver Boulvard and Slauson Avenue in Mar Vista around 9 p.m. Saturday, said Los Angeles police officer Fernando Alvarez.

According to Alvarez, 10 shots were fired.

The man, who's believed to be the father of one of the teens, was struck in the shoulder. He was transported to an area hospital where he was listed in stable condition, the Los Angeles Times reported.

According to the newspaper, both teens were also taken to the hospital for treatment, but have since been released.

Although the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, Sgt. Brown of LAPD's Pacific Division told CBS2 that the shooting appeared to be a case of mistaken identity.

According to Brown, the man may have been targeted for being dressed in what may have appeared to be gang attire.

None of the victims, however, have gang affiliations, police said.

No arrests have been made.
