Capitol's Christmas Tree Makes Its Way Through SoCal

LOS FELIZ (CBS) — This year's Capitol Christmas tree is making its way through the Southland.

The 65-foot tree from Stranislaus National Forest in Northern California is expected to spend the day at Autry National Center in Griffith Park.

It will then head to Rancho Cucamonga where it's expected to be on display at Victoria Gardens from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, followed by a trip to Barstow.

On Saturday, it was on display at the Saugus Speedway in Santa Clarita.

The tree is making a 20-day zig-zag trip across the U.S. on its way to Washington.

Dubbed "The People's Tree," the white fir cut is expected to be presented to Congress as a gift from California. A lighting ceremony is set for Dec. 5.
