LAPD: Suspicious Device Not Explosive In West Hills Neighborhood

WEST HILLS (CBS) — Residents were evacuated from their homes in a San Fernando Valley neighborhood after a suspicious device was found in the area.

Police found what they thought was an explosive device when they were conducting a search warrant around 7:15 a.m.  for child pornography at a home in the 6600 block of Royner Avenue in West Hills,  the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Authorities evacuated the home and the surrounding area and the LAPD Bomb Squad was called in to examine the device.

An investigation found that the item was not explosive and that there was no danger to the community, the LAPD said.

Residents were allowed to return to their homes around 10:45 a.m.

No arrests were made.
