Skiers, Snowboarders Head To Slopes At Mountain High

WRIGHTWOOD (CBS) — Southern California's first ski resort opened for business this weekend.

Snowboarders and skiers took to the slopes at Mountain High in Wrightwood Saturday as a blast of winter-like weather brought several inches of snow.

"We're looking at a good winter. It looks like we're going to have a really good pattern and that we'll be able to not only make snow, but we will get natural snow," said Kim Hermon of Mountain High Resort.

Friday's early season storm left four to six inches of new snow at Mountain High and the resort was able to help Mother Nature out by packing on some more powder.

Mountain High is scheduled to be open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and night skiing is scheduled to begin Thanksgiving weekend. Currently, no road restrictions or chain requirements are in place.

Because of reduced terrain, ticket sales are limited. Those interested are advised to arrive early for the best experience.
