LOS ANGELES (CBS) — The final witnesses testifying for Dr. Conrad Murray will be fellow doctors. Addiction and propofol experts are expected to testify Thursday.

The defense has been utilizing a string of witnesses who have testified about Murray’s character.

Murray wiped tears from his eyes Wednesday as five former patients spoke of his charitable work for the poor, calling him kind and competent.

The prosecution painted Murray as a greedy, reckless doctor who abandoned Michael Jackson and allowed him to die.

Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the pop star’s 2009 death.

  1. Patrick McDonald says:

    The ugly reality is this:

Whether Murray is convicted or not, he will be back practicing medicine somewhere in the U.S. within an appallingly brief period of time. Because that’s how lax we happen to be, and how pitifully low we set the ethics bar, when it comes to our medical practitioners.

The fact is, when it comes to the most egregious of behaviors, we hold MDs to standards far, far lower than those of real estate agents & truck drivers, contractors & cab drivers.

    Pathetic, isn’t it?
