1st Look At Veteran LAPD Sargeant Accused Of Burglary

MENTONE (CBS) — We are getting our first look at Lucien Daigle, the 18-year LAPD veteran accused in a bizarre burglary.

CBS2 and KCAL9 reporter Jeff Nguyen also spoke with the woman who allegedly caught the sergeant in the act...and how she used pepper spray to bring the cop -- and possible perp -- to his knees.

Daigle is seen in a documentary film about the war on drugs.

Nguyen went to the home where Daigle reportedly burgled the property until the homeowner came home to find him just standing in her kids' bathroom.

She's staying away from the house. Especially after finding out Daigle lives just six miles away. Too close for comfort, she says.

The alleged burglary took place Sunday evening.

Said the alleged victim, "There was a man standing in my kids' bathroom. And I screamed at him and asked what was going on."

The woman, who would only speak to Nguyen by phone, is still a little jumpy about finding a stranger in her house.

She had just returned, she says, from walking her dog when she encountered Daigle.

The woman heard noises upstairs and grabbed some pepper spray ... strong stuff designed to ward off bears.

"I think it took the bear spray, my dog and getting 911 on line before he finally left," she says.

Investigators caught Daigle after he allegedly crashed his car into a nearby intersection.

Deputies told Nguyen they could still smell pepper spray coming from his car. And they also claim jewelry from the woman's home was also found inside his vehicle.

Daigle is currently out of jail on $125,000 bail.

Another reason the victim says she doesn't feel safe being in her house.
