Pasadena Firefighters 'Go Pink' To Raise Awareness For Breast Cancer

PASADENA (CBS) — Pasadena firefighters will swap their dark uniform shirts for pink ones this week to raise awareness of breast cancer and women's cancer research as part of Cancer Awareness Month.

"As public servants, Pasadena firefighters have the opportunity to lead by example in the community every day, which enables them to promote awareness and support a cause that has affected every member of the
department," said Pasadena Fire Department spokeswoman Lisa Derderian.

The pink uniform shirts, which bear the logos of the Pasadena Fire Department and the International Association of Fire Fighters, will be worn through Sunday by personnel at all seven city fire stations, Derderian said.

Pink T-shirts with "Pasadena Fire Cares" printed on them will be available for sale to the public, with all proceeds to go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
