OIS Reported In Newton Division

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Authorities say police shot and wounded a man they said was holding a gun on a group of people in a restaurant parking lot early Sunday morning.

The OIS occurred about 2:50 a.m. near the intersection of Broadway and Vernon.

Upon arrival at a disturbance, police said they encountered a Hispanic male, in his early 20s, pointing a handgun.

Officers shot the man and grazed his leg, according to authorities.The man was treated at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.

No officers were hurt in the confrontation.

Four additional suspects were taken into custody for further questioning.

An investigation into the shooting is on-going.
