Deputy Charged With Molesting Girl, 15

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy is facing several molestation charges after turning himself into authorities.

Kenneth Alexander, 45, is facing three felony counts alleging the molestation of a 15-year-old girl.

Special Victims Bureau investigators say that Alexander met the teen while on duty in Marina del Rey in 2010. The crimes occurred, however, when he was off duty in View Park.

According to the District Attorney's Office, Alexander began a relationship with the girl after responding to a call at her home in the View Park area. The alleged relationship lasted from Aug. 10, 2010, until Feb. 28 of this year, prosecutors said.

Alexander was arrested after a tipster called the Los Angeles County Child Abuse Hotline and a suspected child abuse report was taken.

He was placed on paid leave from the sheriff's department on Sept. 20, sheriff's Capt. Mike Parker said.

Alexander is free on $115,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 10.

If convicted, Alexander faces up to four years and four months in prison.
