Stubborn Fire Engulfs Residence In Echo Park

ELYSIAN PARK (CBS) — A stubborn house fire destroyed a two-story house in Echo Park, according to authorities.

The fire was reported just after 5:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Stu Mundel, reporting overhead in Sky9, said the home looked to be a total loss.

The home is on the 1400 block of N. Elysian Park Drive, near Dodger Stadium, according to Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Additional firefighters were called to fight what Scott called a stubborn blaze.

Suzie Suh, reporting for KCAL9, said the home belongs to 50s era star Ann Robinson ("War of the Worlds.")

Two water dropping helicopters were also reportedly called to the scene to try to contain the fire.
