Tree Crashes Down Onto Woodland Hills Home

WOODLAND HILLS (CBS) — A large tree fell onto a home in the San Fernando Valley.

The 100-year-old pine tree fell around 3 a .m. Monday onto a house at 19657 W. Hatteras St. Officials say one person was at home when the tree crashed through the family room and dining room of the house.

"It shook like an earthquake and the house started to move and the tree came down," said home owner Seth Kachaiourian.

The tree also took out some power lines. Officials believe the tree collapsed due to age.

Fire officials estimated the damage at $200,000. The house has been red-tagged and the family of four must relocate temporarily, officials said.

Kachaiourian said he does have home owners insurance.

No one was injured.
