CERRITOS (CBS) — Two suspected burglars were injured Wednesday night in a deputy-involved shooting at a home that has been tented for fumigation.

The shooting took place near the corner of Artesia Boulevard and Bloomfield Avenue just before 11 p.m.

The off-duty deputy, who lives at the home, confronted the men in his yard when he came home from work.

When he ordered them to stop and raise their hands, a physical confrontation began, leading to the shooting.

A third burglar got away, but police say this isn’t the first time in recent weeks that homes being fumigated have been targeted by thieves.

Well done deputy. I want to invite you to the indoor range in Torrance for a brush up on close combat shooting and then buy you a beer.

This officer need more training…why aren’t there three dead thieves? Now we going to have to pay for a trial and the cost of their jail time. Next time, don’t stop until the job is done, please.

Hey, we might get lucky. The hospital might give them Conrad Murray as their physician!

  5. Matt SSD says:

Shooting someone while they are on your property is not justified in California though, is it?

Robbing a home is not justified either. I will take a guess and say it was minorities robbing the home.
