STUDIO CITY (CBS) — Linda Thompson from Canine Companions for Independence visited the KCAL 9 studios Monday to talk about their upcoming fundraiser.

Canine Companions for Independence is a nonprofit organization that provides assistance dogs to people with disabilities completely free of charge. Canine Companions has placed over 3,700 assistance dogs since our founding in 1975.

The Canine Companions Invitational Golf Classic & Celebration Dinner will be held on October 7 at the Pelican Hill Golf Club in Newport Beach.

All proceeds benefit Canine Companions.

Participants can play in the tournament or just buy tickets to the dinner. Golf registration is $250 (includes dinner) and dinner tickets are $125. Register online at www.ccigolf.org and click on the Southern California tab.

Dinner includes cocktail hour, silent auction, live entertainment and gourmet dinner.

The online portion of our auction is up and ready for bids at www.ccigolf.org. Auction includes jewelry, sports memorabilia, vacation packages and unique experiences like a helicopter flight with the Hawthorne Police Department. Bidders need not be present at the event to win.
