LOS ANGELES (CBS) — Two people were wounded Monday – one fatally – as they sat in a parked car in South Los Angeles.

Paramedics were sent to 49th Street and Grand Avenue around 6:30 a.m., said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fatally wounded man, who was sitting in the driver's seat of the parked car, was identified as Robert E. Donnell, 56, of Los Angeles, according to Assistant Coroner Chief Ed Winter.

The woman, who was sitting in the passenger's seat, was taken to a hospital and is in stable condition, Los Angeles police Officer Gregory Baek said.

The suspect was described only as a man who ran from the scene, Baek said.
