Police Hunt For 2 Men Who Brutally Beat Man On Santa Monica Boulevard

SANTA MONICA (CBS) — Police are on the hunt for two men who attacked and brutally beat a third man on Santa Monica Boulevard Thursday at 2:20 a.m.

Police say the beaten man was exercising and/or walking and the two men seemed to attack him without provocation.

The attack occurred in the 3100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, according to Sgt. Richard Lewis of the Santa Monica Police Department.

In a statement, Lewis said the victim was approached by two suspects who "beat the victim about the face and head by unknown means."

The unidentified victim sustained major injuries to his head, face and neck.

He was taken to a hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The first suspect is white, in his late 20s, 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall. He weighs approximately 200 to 225 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored Arizona Diamondbacks baseball cap, white long sleeve shirt, dark-colored shorts and dark shoes.

The second suspect as also described as white and in his late 20s. Officials say this suspect is 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 10 inches in height. They say he has a muscular build and is about 170 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored T-shirt, dark pants and dark shoes.

Police believe the suspects have frequented the area for several days prior to the attack.
