4th Person Arrested For 2009 Murder Of Teen Who Sent Insulting Text

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A fourth person has been arrested in the 2009 death of a teenager who was shot in the head and killed hours after sending an insulting text message.

The Los Angeles Times reports  Hovik Dzhuryan was taken into custody Thursday night. He has pleaded not guilty along with three other suspects in the murder of 19-year-old Mike Yepremyan.

Prosecutors say Yepremyan sent an insulting text message about Kat Vardanian, who saw the text and asked her brother, Dzhuryan, to defend her honor.

Yepremyan and several friends drove to a parking lot where they were confronted by two men, one of whom allegedly shot Yepremyan.

Dzhuryan and Vardanian pleaded not guilty to conspiracy charges.

Alleged shooter Zareh Manjikian and Vahagn Jurian pleaded not guilty to murder charges.
